Lori N. Edwards joined the firm of Jackson & Wade, L.L.C. in 2001. She is an author, private pilot and airframe & powerplant mechanic. Edwards worked for Jackson & Wade, L.L.C. throughout law school, and has done extensive research of the Federal Aviation Regulations in working on several editions of Federal Aviation Regulations Explained. She currently works on aircraft acquisitions, operating structures, aircraft tax issues, FAA and DOT regulatory compliance and FAA enforcement cases.
Ms. Edwards is admitted in Kansas and Missouri, and advises clients throughout the country and internationally on all aspects of aviation law, including FAA, DOT and IRS considerations in the acquisition, operation and sale of aircraft. She speaks at various industry conferences and educational sessions on issues including tax, enforcement, structuring, regulatory compliance and operational control issues in Part 91 and 135 structures. She currently serves on the National Business Aviation Association regulatory issues advisory group and the National Air Transportation Association Charter Committee. She also assisted the Operations Working Group of the Part 125/135 Aviation Rulemaking Committee.
Specific examples of work undertaken on behalf of her clients includes:
- U.S.-to-foreign single-investor financing lease
- contract representation for maintenance contracts and ground handling contracts
- advising clients in investigations by the CBP, DOT, FAA, NTSB and other agencies
- secured financing for aircraft and engines
- advised aircraft operators in preparation for bankruptcy proceedings
Ms. Edwards is a co-author with Kent Jackson of several editions of Federal Aviation Regulations Explained. She has written for the Journal of Air Law and Commerce and was a staff member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law Review.

Ms. Edwards received her B.S. Magna Cum Laude in aviation technology from Central Missouri State University and her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
